Founder and Treasurer
Bob was raised in NE Philly, never having been to a summer camp. His first involvement with a camp was at Camp Discovery in 1990 as a Head Counselor. Bob also used his position as a teacher to recruit teenagers to be counselors. Consequently he became the trainer, supervisor and coordinator of counselors. Bob now performs the duty of treasurer and key fund raiser. During camp week he helps out in areas when he sees needs. Bob was a teacher of mathematics in the Council Rock School District beginning in 1972. In his retirement he travels, does private tutoring in math and volunteers at a number of organizations such as The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, Langhorne Open Space, The Churchville Nature Center, AARP Driver Safety Program, Bristol Riverside Theatre, Music Mountain Theater, Bucks County Playhouse, the Homeless Shelter in Levittown and his church. He lives in Langhorne.
Founder
Ada Mae started working for a camping program that her church was operating at their campground in New Hope. When it became clear in 1992 that the church could no longer support the program, Ada Mae, Laura Lavery and Bob decided to take over the program and formed a separate 501(c)(3) IRS recognized program that still offered a great week of camp to children. They worked together to set the stage for the camp that we see today.
Ada Mae was raised in Solebury Township (even living in a cabin on Deep Park grounds for a time). She and her husband John fostered many children in their home in Wycombe. She was an elementary teacher in the Central Bucks School District before her retirement. She and John now live in Wellsboro Pennsylvania near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
